The Hockey Games - How it all started
One day in 1997 we, six or seven young men,
or rather grown up ex-juniors, were invited to Bosse´s home
somewhere in Bromma, Stockholm.

This is the time when the fine sport spirit of
not mixing sport and fighting is created.
Since it´s totally risk free to sit at one end of a table
calling the opponent different things. He can hardly start
fighting while busy moving players around a hockey game.
Anyway, Bosse dragged up a game from somewhere around the
thirties, beats me how he got the hold on that one.
We "played until our fingers bled". The apartment was vibratic
and we kept the liquid balance high.
The game broke down of course but a couple of handy guys found
some tools we don´t know the name of and in some curious way
got it back in order while Bosse was almost having a
(only his first) heart attack.
The older junior Ralf (Raffe) seemed to be the one who could
control the game best of them all and finished in first place.
The other players were demanding revenge some other time and
the tournaments were born.
The Second Tournament
Raffe who in some strange way won the first tournament invited
the players to his apartment in Spånga, Stockholm.

With great
confidence from the first victory and now being on home ground
he was determined to kick butt properly. But Jonte gave him a
real knock out by starting out with a 9-2 win against the
current champion.
But after a couple of hours burning the plastic surfaces there
he was again. This time winning the best-of-three final in
sudden death against Harald (The man who could make the puck
shiver by his screaming).
The Third Tournament
The reputation about the tough table hockey games spread around
the city and many would have given their right arms to
participate at the house in Sollentuna where the third
tournament was held.

Haralds tactics this year was to get an advantage by offering
plenty of drinks to the other competitors. this was the first
year when the participants brought their own players.
The quality increase of the game was tremendous this year,
excemplified by Tummen who had created some new combinations
and was facing Raffe for the final after several hours of
dramatic competitions.
Tummen won the final scoring 2 against 1 in a real rumble.

The Fourth Tournament
Carambole player Ceulemans would be impressed by the game of
the fourth tournament held in the suburb of Solna.

A trophy had been purchased and some skilled debutants made the
entrance this year. But only a few would feel the smell of the
trophy manufacturers solution pools steam.
Among the rookies were Stefan, Henning and Uffe. All three of
them showed great talents for the game even though Uffe was the
only rookie to make it very far.
But Uffe on the other hand finished runner up with Tummen once
again as the strongest in the final. The other semifinalists
were Raffe and Harald.
The Fifth Tournament
Report from the tournament of 12/10 2002.
A well prepared crowd was showing up.
Skilful Uffe ready to tango, Mats the rookie looked determined.
Also a rookie, Tjomme, had peen training for four years to
attend the tournament and Bosse fully prepared for Power Table
Hockey.
Micke Hü looked like he had several aces up his sleeve, Raffe
had a breakfast containing 3 hard boiled eggs, bratwurst
sausages and cast iron.
Jonte probably remained at the breakfast table for ten hours
since he showed up after the final was over.
Krister had intelligence and soberness as the main reciept,
Hennings input was offensive engagement, Harald brought with
him a couple of new four letter words, Peter tried penicillin
doping and Stefan with lots of routine since the last tournament.
Maybe this time he´ll aim for the top of the crop.
And, of course, Tummen the champion with an iraknian scarf to
help with the concentration.
Some hours of hockey war once again came to the same four
semifinalists; Tummen, Uffe, Raffe and Harald.
In the first semifinal Uffe really trashed Tummen with a
13-2 victory. When they come down they come down hard!
In the other semifinal Raffe closed the doors with an
impressive defence. Harald never really got into the game.
In the final between Uffe and Raffe it was Uffe controlling
the game almost from the beginning. Raffes struggling came
close but Uffe was to be the new champion and it was the right
man to win.
